Gécamines, the Congolese state miner, is a key player in the U.S. strategy, preparing to ship a significant amount of copper to U.S. buyers after renegotiating marketing rights with CMOC. New offtake arrangements also position Gécamines as a leading zinc exporter and a principal buyer of germanium and gallium concentrates.

Gécamines, the state miner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, holds a key permit leased by Chemaf for Mutoshi and has wielded significant influence over the sale. It previously blocked a proposed deal with a Chinese state-backed firm and has now approved the Virtus Minerals takeover.

Gécamines is Glencore's existing partner in Glencore===Kamoto Copper Company. It will work with Glencore and Orion Critical Mineral Consortium to expand and develop Glencore===Mutanda Mining and Glencore===Kamoto Copper Company, and to acquire additional critical mineral projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
