Aluminium Bahrain

Aluminium Bahrain has initiated a controlled shutdown of three of its aluminum smelting lines, representing 19% of its total production capacity. This action is a response to ongoing supply and transit disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a declaration of force majeure and an inability to ship metal or receive raw materials. The company aims to optimize raw material utilization and maintain operational stability on its remaining lines.

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) is exploring alternative ports like the Oman===SOHAR Port and Freezone and Saudi Arabia===Jeddah to manage its exports and imports, indicating potential logistical challenges and increased costs due to the Strait of Hormuz closure. Alba produces 1.6 million tons of aluminium annually.

Aluminium Bahrain halted shipments and declared force majeure because it could not move metal through the Strait of Hormuz, significantly impacting its operations and global aluminium supply.

Aluminium Bahrain was also impacted by the March 28 attacks and has declared force majeure due to supply chain disruptions linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, affecting its outbound shipments and inbound alumina supplies.
