A key arrest was Uche Franklin Onyekwere, a Brazil-based Nigerian businessman, apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport for concealing 1.60 kilograms of cocaine. He admitted to purchasing the drugs in Brazil for resale in Nigeria to fund his business and a child's naming ceremony. In other operations, the NDLEA, in collaboration with the Nigeria===Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria===Nigerian Army, seized over 9,939 kilograms of various illicit drugs, including Canadian Loud, skunk, Colorado, pentazocine injection, and tramadol pills, across Lagos, Niger, Edo, Anambra, and Ondo states. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohammed Buba Marwa, commended the officers for their professionalism and urged continued efforts in both drug supply and demand reduction.
