Wallenius Wilhelmsen has officially commenced its 12-year contract to operate the Sweden===Port of Gothenburg car terminal, now renamed Port of Gothenburg===Gothenburg International Auto and RoRo Terminal (GIART), starting February 2, 2026. This follows the contract award in January 2025 and signing in July 2025. The company takes over from Logent Terminals, which operated the terminal since 2011. Wallenius Wilhelmsen plans to invest 6 million euros in modernizing the terminal's infrastructure, including EV charging and energy-efficient systems. The goal is to develop GIART into a regional hub, enhancing Wallenius Wilhelmsen's logistics network and the Sweden===Port of Gothenburg's capacity for integrated logistics solutions. Goran Eriksson, CEO of the Sweden===Port of Gothenburg, expressed optimism about Wallenius Wilhelmsen's business plan and commitment to volume targets. John Felitto, COO Logistics Services at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, highlighted the vision of co-creating a Scandinavian hub. GIART features two quay positions, 240,000 square meters of terminal space, rail connectivity, and PDI facilities, handling 251,000 new vehicles in 2025.
