Trane Technologies and Garrett Motion HVAC Collaboration

Trane Technologies and Garrett Motion have announced a strategic collaboration to advance next-generation, oil-free centrifugal compressor technology for commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications. This partnership combines Trane Technologies===Trane's HVAC system expertise with Garrett Motion's breakthrough oil-free high-speed centrifugal compressor technology, which has demonstrated significant energy efficiency gains. The companies will jointly develop and integrate advanced compressor solutions across Trane Technologies===Trane's portfolio, including rooftop units, modular chillers, and large capacity chillers. Field testing and production are slated to begin in 2026. This initiative aims to lead the industry with high-performing, energy-efficient solutions, support customer decarbonization goals, and accelerate the adoption of ultra-low global warming potential refrigerants. The collaboration also includes shared engineering, design, and field testing activities across global markets, with future explorations into smaller capacity HVAC systems and other emerging cooling needs.
