The acquisition by Essity is expected to positively impact its stock price due to increased market share in high-margin categories within the hygiene and personal care sectors. For Edgewell Personal Care, the sale provides capital and allows for strategic focus, which could be viewed neutrally to slightly positively by the market.
Essity, a hygiene and health company, has completed the acquisition of Edgewell Personal Care's feminine care business for USD 340 million (approximately SEK 3 billion). This strategic move includes well-known brands such as Carefree, Stayfree, o.b., and global feminine care rights for the Playtex brand in North America, Canada, and the Caribbean. The deal also encompasses a production facility in United States===Dover, Delaware. Essity's CEO, Ulrika Kolsrud, stated that this acquisition strengthens Essity's personal care business in North America and aligns with its strategy to grow in high-yielding categories and key geographies, particularly in the United States, the world's largest hygiene market. The operations will be consolidated into Essity's accounts as of February 2, 2026.
