The India===Government of India, through its India===Ministry of Labor and Employment and the India===Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), has already issued notifications for minimum wage revisions based on Variable Dearness Allowance, effective October 1, 2024. The Code on Wages 2019, which subsumes the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, is set to be in force across India, including India===Jammu and Kashmir, from November 21, 2025, establishing provisions for a national floor minimum wage and periodic revisions based on socio-economic criteria. Legislators Ali Mohammad Dar, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, and Hasnain Masoodi raised questions on the matter in the Legislative Assembly.
