The market is expected to see significant growth in IT spending, particularly in AI infrastructure, data centers, and software, which will positively impact technology companies. However, the slowdown in device spending due to rising memory prices may negatively affect hardware manufacturers.
Gartner, Inc. has released its latest forecast for worldwide IT spending, projecting it to reach $6.15 trillion in 2026, an increase of 10.8% from 2025. The report highlights rapid growth in AI infrastructure, with server spending expected to accelerate by 36.9% and total data center spending to increase by 31.7%. Software spending, though slightly revised downward, is still projected to grow by 14.7%, driven significantly by an 80.8% growth in generative AI model spending. Conversely, device spending growth is expected to slow to 6.1% due to rising memory prices and market-demand constraints. John-David Lovelock, a Distinguished VP Analyst at Gartner, emphasized the continued investment by hyperscale cloud providers in AI-optimized servers.
