Stormont Education Minister Paul Givan announced a review of the religious education (RE) curriculum in schools across United Kingdom===Northern Ireland. This decision follows a United Kingdom===Supreme Court of the United Kingdom judgment last year, which ruled that the current provision of Christian religious education does not comply with human rights standards, as it lacks an 'objective, critical and pluralist manner'. The review, to be led by Professor Noel Purdy and Joyce Logue, aims to revise the syllabus to be consistent with the Supreme Court's judgment while ensuring Christianity remains central due to United Kingdom===Northern Ireland's historical and cultural context. New regulations are anticipated this autumn, with a new syllabus implemented by September 2027.
