The successful military operation by Nigeria===Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI against Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Nigeria is a positive development for regional security. It may lead to increased investor confidence in the affected regions due to reduced terrorist activity.
Troops of the Nigeria===Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) conducted a two-week coordinated operation, Operation DESERT SANITY V, in the Timbuktu Triangle across Nigeria===Borno State and Nigeria===Yobe State. This operation resulted in the capture and destruction of three notorious detention facilities operated by Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram. During fierce engagements, OPHK troops neutralized no fewer than 32 ISWAP fighters, including two Qaids and three Munzirs, and caused several others to sustain injuries. The facilities, capable of holding up to 300 detainees, were demolished, and over 70 captives escaped. This significant advance into previously inaccessible areas degrades ISWAP's internal enforcement mechanisms, disrupts their ability to collect ransom, and undermines their control over local populations, providing valuable intelligence.
