Kunal Kamra and Sushma Andhare Summoned by Maharashtra Privilege Committee

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare have been summoned by the India===Maharashtra legislative council's privileges committee for a hearing. The summons is in response to alleged insulting remarks made against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Kunal Kamra had targeted Eknath Shinde in a song parody, indirectly referring to him as a traitor, while Sushma Andhare publicly supported Kunal Kamra. BJP MLC Pravin Darekar moved the breach of privilege notice against them. The hearing was initially scheduled for February 5 but has been rescheduled to February 17 due to Sushma Andhare's campaigning commitments. The committee, chaired by BJP MLC Prasad Lad, has warned of potential action if they fail to appear after two summonses. This event stems from Eknath Shinde's 2022 rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, which led to a split in the Shiv Sena and the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
