The acquisition of Cosmix Wellness by Marico is expected to positively impact Marico's stock price and market position by expanding its presence in the high-growth wellness and plant-based nutrition sectors. This move signals a strategic shift towards digital-first brands and premium categories, potentially influencing other FMCG players to follow suit.
Marico, an Indian FMCG major, has acquired a 60% stake in Cosmix Wellness, a digital-first functional wellness brand, for ₹225.67 crore, valuing Cosmix Wellness at ₹375 crore. This strategic investment aims to strengthen Marico's digital-first portfolio and expand its presence in the wellness and plant-based nutrition market. Cosmix Wellness, founded in 2019 by Vibha Harish and Soorya Jagadish, offers plant-based protein powders and functional superfood blends. The co-founders will retain the remaining 40% stake and continue to lead the business. This acquisition is part of Marico's broader strategy to double its revenue to ₹20,000 crore by 2030, following its recent acquisition of the 5th millennium BC snacking brand from PVR INOX. Saugata Gupta, MD and CEO of Marico, highlighted the immense potential in the wellness space and Cosmix Wellness's strong consumer resonance.
