The Power Distribution Services Ghana (ECG) has announced the nationwide deployment of franchise officers across all district operational areas, starting in February 2026. This initiative aims to enhance service delivery, improve billing accuracy, and strengthen revenue collection. Franchise officers will be responsible for reading postpaid meters, verifying prepaid meter integrity, distributing and printing bills on-site, and assisting customers with digital payments. They will also disconnect accounts in arrears and report illegal electricity activities. Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, General Manager for External Relations at Power Distribution Services Ghana, emphasized that this strategy will bring services closer to customers, improve accountability, and curb electricity theft, ultimately promoting long-term reliability of the power distribution system. Customers are advised to verify the identity of officers using official identification cards and authorization letters.
