The discovery of significant heavy rare earth element mineralization by Ameerex Corporation and Patagonia Lithium in Brazil is expected to positively impact the critical minerals market by offering a non-China source. This could lead to increased investment in the mining sector and potentially stabilize prices for commodities like Holmium, Lutetium, and Yttrium.
Ameerex Corporation, in a joint venture with Patagonia Lithium Ltd, announced the confirmation of major heavy rare earth element (HREE) mineralization in their Brazil project. This discovery significantly expands the project's scope, which was initially focused on lithium, and positions it within the globally recognized Goiás-Araxá-Catalão critical minerals belt. The exploration work, conducted by Patagonia Lithium, identified high-value HREEs including Holmium, Lutetium, and Yttrium. The project area is strategically located adjacent to CMOC Group Limited's operating niobium phosphate mine, validating the region's prospectivity and existing infrastructure. This development is crucial for diversifying the global supply of critical minerals, with Brazil now ranking second to China in estimated REE resources. The joint venture plans to advance with targeted drilling, expanded sampling, and metallurgical characterization to de-risk the asset and attract industrial partners and institutional investors.
