The launch of the G2M fiber route by Paratus Group is expected to significantly boost the digital economies of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo by providing faster, more resilient, and lower-latency connectivity. This will likely attract further investment in ICT and related sectors across East Africa.
Paratus Group has activated a new 2000 km Goma-to-Mombasa (G2M) fiber route, directly connecting Mombasa on the Kenyan coast to Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The terrestrial network passes through Kigali (Rwanda), Kampala (Uganda), and Nairobi (Kenya), with direct interconnections into key data centers. This initiative, supported by partnerships with Roke Telkom in Uganda and MoveOn Telecoms in Kenya, significantly strengthens Paratus Group's East African footprint. The G2M route complements Paratus Group's existing East-West fiber backbone and its LEO satellite footprint, providing resilient, high-capacity connectivity for carriers, ISPs, and enterprise clients. This development is crucial for enabling East Africa's digital economy, improving access to international networks, and fostering growth in sectors like fintech, manufacturing, and ICT across the region.
