HPQ Silica Polvere Receives First Fumed Silica Order
Analysis based on 7 articles · First reported Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated Feb 19, 2026
The market is positively impacted by the commercial progression of HPQ Silicon Inc.'s Fumed Silica Reactor technology, as it signals a step towards a more sustainable and cost-effective production of fumed silica. This development could lead to increased revenue and market share for HPQ Silicon Inc. and PyroGenesis Canada, and potentially disrupt the traditional fumed silica market.
HPQ Silicon Inc. announced that its subsidiary, HPQ Silicon===HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. (HSPI), received its first purchase order for 50 kilograms of fumed silica from a strategic industrial partner. This material was produced by PyroGenesis Canada Inc. using the Fumed Silica Reactor (FSR) pilot plant. The order signifies a transition from technical validation to commercial engagement for the FSR technology. Extended production runs for this order generated critical engineering data to support the design of a proposed 1,000 tonne-per-year commercial facility. Independent laboratory testing by Covalent Metrology confirmed that the fumed silica meets required specifications. This plasma-based approach aims to produce fumed silica from quartz more energy-efficiently and without hazardous chemicals, offering potential benefits like lower capital and operating costs, reduced CO2 emissions, and a safer production environment. The formation of a joint venture under a non-binding memorandum of understanding is anticipated by Q2 2026, subject to further agreements and commercial viability.
