The expansion of Cabot Corporation's circular reinforcing carbon production in Asia-Pacific is expected to positively impact the chemical and tire manufacturing industries by providing sustainable material solutions. This move enhances supply chain efficiency and supports global sustainability targets for tire production.
Cabot Corporation has successfully established and validated production capabilities for its circular reinforcing carbons under the EVOLVE Sustainable Solutions platform in the Asia-Pacific region. This expansion includes manufacturing sites in Indonesia===Cilegon, Indonesia, and China===Tianjin, China, which will now produce circular reinforcing carbons using tire pyrolysis oil within an ISCC PLUS mass balance framework. This strategic move extends Cabot Corporation's regional supply options for tire and rubber manufacturers, supporting a 'make in region sell in region' approach to reduce logistics emissions and improve supply resilience. The initiative aims to accelerate tire circularity by supplying recycled feedstocks at scale, aligning with ambitious sustainability commitments from tire manufacturers globally to increase sustainable material usage. Cabot Corporation already has similar production capabilities in the United States, Brazil, and the Czech Republic, bringing its total ISCC PLUS certified sites to 13 across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
