Huntington Ingalls Industries and Path Robotics AI Welding MOU

Huntington Ingalls Industries, America's largest shipbuilder, and Path Robotics, an AI-driven manufacturing company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to integrate Path Robotics' physical artificial intelligence (AI) for welding into Huntington Ingalls Industries's shipbuilding operations. This strategic partnership aims to significantly accelerate shipbuilding throughput, strengthen the maritime industrial base, and augment the shipbuilding workforce. The collaboration will focus on autonomous shipbuilding capability development, workforce training for automation, and establishing an intellectual property framework for AI-based welding systems. Both companies will also pursue research and development to integrate Path Robotics' physical AI models, such as Obsidian, with other innovative shipbuilding technologies, including Huntington Ingalls Industries's ROMULUS line of unmanned surface vehicles.
