The launch of the One-Stop-Shop platform by the Nigeria===Nigeria Customs Service is expected to significantly boost Nigeria's trade efficiency by reducing cargo clearance times and compliance costs. This will likely lead to increased investment and enhanced competitiveness for businesses operating in Nigeria.
The Nigeria===Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a new digital One-Stop-Shop (OSS) platform aimed at eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks and reducing cargo clearance time to 48 hours at Nigeria's ports. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi described the initiative as a major structural reform to modernize border operations and strengthen Nigeria's trade competitiveness, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's broader business reforms and the World Trade Organization's Trade Facilitation Agreement. The NCS also announced plans to transition to a fully paperless customs environment by the end of the second quarter of 2026. The OSS platform consolidates all risk interventions into a single electronic interface, streamlining multiple checks and improving transparency and accountability. Stakeholders, including the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, have expressed strong support for the initiative, anticipating reduced costs and improved trade efficiency.
