Imran Khan Seeks Bail on Medical Grounds

Former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has filed a petition with the Pakistan===Islamabad High Court seeking the suspension of his 17-year sentence and release on bail in the Toshakhana-2 case. The plea, submitted on medical and humanitarian grounds, highlights a severe eye condition that has reportedly reduced his right eye vision to 15%. Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were convicted in December last year for the alleged under-priced purchase and subsequent sale of state gifts. The petition argues that his health condition cannot be adequately treated within jail premises and that his conviction is part of a broader campaign of political victimisation. A separate application has also been filed for an early hearing in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The Pakistan===Islamabad High Court is expected to schedule hearings for these petitions.
