India and France have announced the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) for Skilling in Aeronautics and Defence at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in India===Kanpur, India. This initiative, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a joint press statement with the President of France, is part of the India-France Year of Innovation and related cooperation. The NCoE will operate under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme of the India===Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It aims to provide advanced skill training in critical domains such as aeronautics, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), airport operations, and defence manufacturing. The collaboration, which includes co-designed curricula and training-of-trainers programs, is set to strengthen India's aviation skilling capacity and deepen its strategic partnership with France in advanced technology sectors. A Letter of Intent has been exchanged between the India===Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Government of France.
