The deployment of an 8 exaflops AI supercomputer in India signifies a major advancement in the country's technological infrastructure, boosting its sovereign AI capabilities and reducing reliance on foreign computing. This will likely attract further investment in India's technology sector and enhance the market positions of G42 and Cerebras.
Abu Dhabi, through its global technology group G42, in partnership with Cerebras, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and India's India===Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, will establish a national-scale AI supercomputer in India. This 8 exaflops system, announced at the AI Impact Summit 2026, marks India's transition to exaflop-scale AI infrastructure, significantly expanding its domestic compute capabilities for advanced AI development. The supercomputer will operate under India-defined governance frameworks, ensuring data sovereignty and security, and will serve as a foundational asset under the India AI Mission. It will be accessible to India's diverse AI ecosystem, including academic institutions, startups, and government ministries, aiming to lower barriers to AI innovation for its 1.4 billion citizens. This project builds on the comprehensive partnership framework solidified during the 5th India-UAE Strategic Dialogue and the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India.
