Philippines Education Reform for Workforce Alignment

The Philippines===List of education ministries, led by Secretary Sonny Angara, emphasized the critical need for stronger alignment among educational institutions, training providers, industry partners, and government agencies during the 16th ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework Committee Meeting. This initiative aims to create a unified framework that connects basic education, technical-vocational education and training, higher education, and employment, ensuring smoother transitions for students from school to work. Central to this effort is the ongoing update of the Philippine Qualifications Framework, which now features eight levels aligned with the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework, integrating Senior High School under Level 3 and formally incorporating microcredentials. The Philippines===List of education ministries also stressed the importance of enhanced coordination with the Philippines===Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the Philippines===Commission on Higher Education, and the Philippines===Ministry of Labour to address persistent gaps between education outcomes and labor market needs. These reforms, supported by President Bongbong Marcos's administration, are part of a broader national education overhaul, including the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) Final Report and the National Education and Workforce Development Plan 2026-2035, with proposed legislative reforms like the Lifelong Learning Development Framework Act of 2025.
