Microsoft Launches AI Education Initiative in India

Microsoft has launched 'Microsoft Elevate for Educators in India', an initiative to skill two million teachers and reach 200,000 schools and educational institutions by 2030. This program is part of Microsoft's broader commitment to equip 20 million people in India with AI skills, making India the first country in Asia to launch such an initiative. The program, announced by Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, and Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, aims to embed AI literacy, computational thinking, and responsible technology use into everyday teaching and learning. It supports India's ambition to become an AI-first nation and aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, which will integrate AI and Computational Thinking into the school curriculum from Grade 3 onwards. Microsoft is partnering with several Indian government agencies, including the India===Central Board of Secondary Education, India===National Council of Educational Research and Training, India===All India Council for Technical Education, India===National Council for Vocational Education and Training, and the India===Directorate General of Training, to expand equitable AI opportunities for eight million students across various education systems.
