The National Quality Conclave, led by Piyush Goyal, aims to significantly enhance India's manufacturing and export quality, which is expected to boost 'Brand India' globally. This initiative, if successful, could lead to increased trade opportunities and a stronger position in global supply chains, positively impacting various sectors like textiles, leather, footwear, and pharmaceuticals.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal emphasized the critical importance of quality in India's manufacturing and export sectors during the first National Quality Conclave. Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'zero defect, zero effect' vision, the initiative aims to transform India into a globally recognized producer of high-quality goods and services, contributing to its ambition of becoming a USD 30-35 trillion economy by 2047 and achieving a USD 2 trillion export target. The Conclave, organized by the India===Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Quality Council of India (QCI), outlined a five-pillar action agenda to institutionalize quality, including standard operating processes, workforce skilling, gap analysis, streamlined testing, and strengthened infrastructure. The government assured funding for quality testing infrastructure and support for micro and small enterprises to meet international standards. The event focused on priority sectors like textiles, leather, footwear, and pharmaceuticals, with extensive consultations conducted across manufacturing clusters to develop a National Quality Roadmap for Manufacturing.
