LAT Aerospace Acquires Sharang Shakti

LAT Aerospace, an aviation venture co-founded by Zomato and Surobhi Das, has acquired Sharang Shakti, an early-stage defense robotics startup based in Gurgaon. This acquisition marks LAT Aerospace's initial foray into building indigenous defense capabilities, alongside its long-term mission of developing next-generation civil aviation platforms in India. Zomato, who recently resigned as Group CEO of Eternal (parent company of Zomato) to pursue higher-risk ventures, emphasized that the core technology stack for autonomy, perception, sensing, navigation, guidance, and control systems is shared across both civil aviation and defense sectors. By integrating Sharang Shakti, LAT Aerospace aims to develop these capabilities in-house from first principles, intending to deploy them across both defense and civil programs over time. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
