India Approves Ahmedabad-GIFT City Metro Extension

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a 3.33-kilometer extension of the North-South corridor of the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) from India===GIFT City to Shahpur. This project, estimated at Rs 1,067.35 crore, will include three elevated stations and is scheduled for completion in approximately four years. The extension aims to strengthen connectivity between India===Ahmedabad and the India===GIFT City region, benefiting daily commuters, multinational companies, educational institutions, and commercial centers. The project is a joint venture between the India===Government of India and the India===Government of Gujarat, and it is expected to generate around 1,000 jobs during construction and 250 jobs for operations and maintenance post-completion. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the decision, and Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel expressed gratitude for the initiative.
