This event marks a pivotal moment for India's semiconductor manufacturing ambitions, as it formally launches commercial production and shipment of the first 'made-in-India' semiconductor memory modules. The facility, established with an investment of over Rs 22,500 crore under the India===India Semiconductor Mission, will manufacture memory and storage products like SSDs, DRAM, and NAND flash memory, crucial for computing systems, smartphones, data centers, and especially Artificial Intelligence systems. Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology, acknowledged the policy support from the Central and India===Gujarat governments. The plant is expected to create 5,000 direct employment opportunities and will process advanced DRAM and NAND wafers from Micron Technology's global factories for the global market.
