Nentawe Yilwatda's ₦100M Grant to Akwa Ibom State University

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the Nigeria===All Progressives Congress, has personally donated ₦100 million to Akwa Ibom State University to support cutting-edge research. This grant aims to strengthen research output addressing national challenges in Nigeria, focusing on areas such as flood modeling, climate adaptation, offshore oil production optimization, sustainable fisheries management, and renewable energy integration. Professor Yilwatda also pledged to facilitate a partnership between the university and authorities in the United States to establish a world-class institute, enhancing the global competitiveness of Akwa Ibom State University students. He emphasized the importance of deploying emerging technologies like AI and big data analytics in research and committed to personally supervising the projects to ensure transparency and measurable outcomes. The initiative seeks to reposition Nigerian universities as engines of innovation and national development, drawing lessons from institutions like Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
