Kashmiri Students Harassed in Kurnool College

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has sought the urgent intervention of India===Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu regarding alleged harassment and discrimination faced by Kashmiri students at the Government College of Nursing, Kurnool. The complaints include verbal abuse, denial of Ramzan (Sehri & Iftar) arrangements, restrictions on wearing the hijab, and threats of suspension and eviction from the hostel. The JKSA stated that around two dozen Kashmiri students, many of whom are young women studying under the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme, are experiencing fear, humiliation, and mental distress. The association alleges that the students are being targeted based on their Kashmiri identity and religion, with college authorities questioning their religious practices and discouraging fasting. The JKSA termed these actions as direct violations of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Indian Constitution, including freedom of religion and prohibition of discrimination. The association has urged N. Chandrababu Naidu to order an impartial inquiry and ensure the protection and dignity of the affected Kashmiris.
