This collaboration between Capgemini and Deutsche Telekom is expected to positively impact the telecommunications market by introducing an open, intelligent, and automated RAN platform. It aims to reduce operational complexity and vendor lock-in for telecom operators, potentially driving innovation and efficiency across the industry.
Capgemini and Deutsche Telekom have announced a new agreement to engineer a unified, open platform for intelligent Radio Access Network (RAN) automation. This solution is designed to simplify and automate operations, improve network performance, and accelerate the transition toward autonomous networks. The platform, a Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) system, will operate across both Open RAN (O-RAN) and legacy RAN environments, including 5G and 4G for Deutsche Telekom's European segments. A key differentiator is its open architecture, supporting an ecosystem of rApps for AI-based RAN functions. This initiative aims to provide telecom operators with greater control, reduce dependency on proprietary vendor solutions, and enable faster service innovation. Both Capgemini and Deutsche Telekom will showcase the solution at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
