Micron Opens Semiconductor Facility in Sanand, India

Micron Technology celebrated the grand opening of its semiconductor assembly and test facility in Sanand, India===Gujarat, India, on February 28, 2026. This state-of-the-art facility, representing a combined investment of approximately $2.75 billion by Micron Technology and its government partners, will convert advanced DRAM and NAND wafers into finished memory and storage products. The first phase of the operation will feature over 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space, making it one of the world's largest. The site aims to serve global customers and meet the increasing demand for memory and storage driven by AI. Dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of India===Gujarat Bhupendrabhai Patel, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the ceremony. The Sanand site has begun commercial production and made its first shipment of memory modules to Dell Technologies. This initiative is crucial for building a resilient semiconductor ecosystem in India and positioning the nation as a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and innovation.
