The Nigeria===Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) has commissioned an integrated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling facility at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. This project is part of a broader initiative by MDGIF, in partnership with FEMADEC Energy Limited, to deploy 20 CNG refuelling infrastructure projects across federal universities nationwide. The goal is to advance Nigeria's gas-based energy transition, promote cleaner fuels, and deepen domestic gas utilization. The facility will provide CNG buses and vehicle conversion services for students, staff, and the surrounding community, aiming to reduce transport costs and pollution. Additionally, the First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu, donated 50 CNG-powered buses, and the Nigeria===Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PiCNG) contributed 10 CNG-powered tricycles to the university to further support clean mobility. The project is also expected to foster research, practical learning, and innovation in alternative fuels at Obafemi Awolowo University.
