INEC Cautions on 2027 Election Perfection

The Chairman of the Nigeria===Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan, addressed public expectations for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, stating that while the commission has the capacity for electronic transmission of results, a 100% perfect election cannot be guaranteed due to logistical and communication infrastructure challenges, especially in remote areas. He cited experiences from the Federal Capital Territory Area Council election where delays occurred. Amupitan assured that the Nigeria===Independent National Electoral Commission is committed to delivering the best possible election and plans to conduct a mock presidential election to test its technological systems. Civil society groups, including YIAGA Africa, emphasized the importance of the Electoral Act 2026 and called for timely funding for the Nigeria===Independent National Electoral Commission to prevent logistical issues.
