The investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack, involving international judicial assistance, could create uncertainty for companies like GoPro and AE Group International Limited regarding supply chain security and regulatory scrutiny. Geopolitical tensions between India and China might also be affected, potentially impacting broader market sentiment.
The India===National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India is seeking judicial assistance from China to trace a GoPro Hero 12 Black camera linked to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists. The camera, supplied to China-based AE Group International Limited and activated in Dongguan, China, is considered crucial for establishing the terror module's pre-attack reconnaissance and operational preparations. A special court in Jammu allowed the NIA to issue a Letter Rogatory to China's judicial authorities to identify the purchaser and end-user. The India===Interior ministry has concurred with this request. The Resistance Front, a proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, which was the deadliest assault on civilians in the region in almost twenty years. India and China, not signatories to a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, are resorting to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime for cooperation.
