This technological breakthrough by Akash Systems, in collaboration with AMD and MiTAC Holdings Corporation===MiTAC, is expected to significantly boost the performance and energy efficiency of AI data centers. It will likely lead to increased investment in advanced cooling solutions and potentially shift market dynamics in the semiconductor and data center industries, benefiting the involved companies.
Akash Systems has announced a breakthrough in cooling technology with its Diamond Cooling® solution, capable of reducing GPU and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) temperatures by up to 10°C. This innovation, which is additive to existing cooling methods, allows for up to 22 percent higher FLOPs per Watt and can generate up to $1 million in incremental value per server over four years. The technology, initially developed with United States===NASA for satellites, is now being commercialized for AI servers. Akash Systems has partnered with AMD and MiTAC Holdings Corporation===MiTAC to manufacture and deploy the first Akash Diamond Cooled MiTAC AI servers, powered by AMD Instinct™ MI350X Series GPUs and 5th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9005 CPUs. This collaboration aims to address the thermal bottleneck in AI infrastructure, enabling greater compute density, improved Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), and extended hardware lifespan for data centers globally. Investors in Akash Systems include Khosla Ventures and Founders Fund.
