A new survey by Visa Inc., conducted by Morning Consult in October 2025, reveals that South African consumers are increasingly adopting innovative payment technologies. The survey of 1,000 adults in South Africa found that 63% have used Artificial intelligence for shopping tasks, 39% consider Digital wallet the fastest payment option, and 57% of those who send money abroad would consider using Stablecoin. Biometric authentication is also widely used by 66% of consumers. Despite this embrace of new technologies, security remains a top concern for 88% of respondents, and 63% still prefer human customer service over Artificial intelligence. Lineshree Moodley of Visa Inc. South Africa noted that trust and technology are going hand-in-hand, driving the adoption of new payment solutions.
