Owo Church Attack Suspect's Defense

Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, one of five suspects accused in the June 5, 2022, terror attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Nigeria===Ondo State, opened his defense at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He testified about his arrest by the Nigeria===State Security Service (Nigeria) (DSS) on August 1, 2022, alongside two other boys, and his subsequent detention in Lokoja, Nigeria===Kogi State, where he met another co-defendant, Momoh Otuho Abubakar. Omeiza stated that he was not questioned about the Owo attack or membership in any terror organization until August 18, 2022, after being moved to Nigeria===Ondo State. The Nigeria===State Security Service (Nigeria) (DSS) had called 11 witnesses, and the court admitted the defendants' confessional statements after a trial-within-trial. The trial, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, has been adjourned to March 6 for the continuation of the defense.
