Nigeria's Nigeria===Executive Council, under President Bola Tinubu, has approved the implementation of a GIS-enabled alphanumeric digital postcode system. This initiative, announced by Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani, will be executed in collaboration with the Nigeria===Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) and its Postmaster General/CEO Tola Odeyemi. The new system aims to modernize Nigeria's addressing infrastructure, improving accuracy in mail and parcel delivery, and serving as critical national infrastructure. Beyond postal services, it is expected to enhance national planning, emergency response, logistics, e-commerce operations, financial inclusion, security, urban planning, and the delivery of government services.
