The release of the Shop-in-Shop Smart Converged Network Solution by Huawei and SOLUM is expected to positively impact the retail technology market by offering a scalable and cost-effective infrastructure. This innovation could lead to increased adoption of digital solutions in retail, benefiting both Huawei and SOLUM.
Huawei and SOLUM jointly released the Shop-in-Shop (SiS) Smart Converged Network Solution during MWC Barcelona 2026. This solution integrates digital infrastructure and electronic shelf labels (ESLs) into a unified retail infrastructure platform, creating a scalable and cost-effective architecture for global retailers. It is designed for high-traffic environments and standalone setups like pop-up shops, enabling real-time content updates, efficient management, and system scalability. The solution utilizes a unified gateway for LTE, Wi-Fi, and ESLs, eliminating the need for dedicated ESL APs and supporting plug-and-play deployments. This innovation is projected to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by 55% for retail stores, with savings up to 33% for larger outlets. Huawei and SOLUM plan to continue their collaboration, exploring AI applications within stores to accelerate the retail industry's digital and intelligent transformation.
