The Nigeria===Ebonyi State government, led by Governor Francis Nwifuru, has taken decisive action to resolve a violent land dispute between the Amasiri and Okporojo communities. The conflict resulted in several deaths and property destruction, with attackers beheading victims. In response, Francis Nwifuru ordered the destruction of all shrines and deities in Amasiri, imposed sanctions including the sacking of political appointees and dethronement of traditional rulers, and enforced a curfew. A 19-member committee, headed by Paul Nwobashi, the State Commissioner for Border and Conflict Resolution, has been constituted to demarcate the disputed boundary. The curfew will remain in force until the severed heads of the victims are recovered and perpetrators arrested.
