The survey results indicate a positive trend for economic growth and innovation, as more women in finance and accountancy, particularly in India and the United Kingdom, aspire to entrepreneurship. This shift suggests a potential increase in new business formations and job creation, driven by skilled professionals.
New survey data from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) reveals a significant increase in entrepreneurial aspirations among women in finance and accountancy globally. In India, 64% of women now aspire to become entrepreneurs, up from 56% last year, while in the United Kingdom, the figure rose to 32% from 27%. This trend is most pronounced among younger female professionals (Generation Z and Millennials), who seek autonomy, impact, and financial independence. Helen Brand, chief executive of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), highlighted that accountancy skills provide a strong foundation for entrepreneurial success, combining financial expertise, governance, risk management, technology, and strategic insight. The findings, released ahead of International Women's Day 2026, align with UN Women's theme of 'Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women and girls,' underscoring the importance of supporting women's entrepreneurial potential for economic growth and equality.
