UK Fuel Prices Soar Amid Middle East Conflict

The surge in Brent Crude prices due to the Middle East conflict is causing significant increases in Gasoline and Diesel fuel prices in the United Kingdom. This negatively impacts consumers and the haulage industry, leading to calls for reduced non-essential travel and fuel conservation.
Fuel prices in the United Kingdom are experiencing a sharp increase, with petrol up 5p to 137.5p per litre and diesel up 9p to 151.0p per litre since February 28. This surge is attributed to the Middle East conflict, which has pushed Brent Crude prices above $100 a barrel for the first time since 2022. Experts from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit predict further increases, with petrol potentially reaching 150p at $100 a barrel and 170p at $120 a barrel. In response, The AA president Edmund King and RAC Limited head of policy Simon Williams have advised UK drivers to consider cutting non-essential journeys, adopting fuel-efficient driving styles, and shopping around for the best prices to mitigate the impact of rising costs.
