The clarification from the Nigeria===Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board helps to streamline the understanding of responsibilities within the Nigerian education system, potentially reducing confusion for students and institutions. This could lead to more efficient processes for HND graduates seeking Nigeria===National Youth Service Corps mobilization, positively impacting the education sector.
The Nigeria===Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that it is not responsible for Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions or the mobilization of HND graduates for the Nigeria===National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). This statement was made by JAMB Registrar Is-haq Oloyede during a meeting with the National Association of Polytechnic Students. Oloyede explained that JAMB's mandate is limited to first-degree, National Diploma, and Nigerian Certificate in Education programs, and that HND admissions are handled directly by individual polytechnics. He highlighted that issues with NYSC mobilization often stem from irregular admission practices by institutions, such as admitting more National Diploma candidates than allowed by the Nigeria===National Board for Technical Education or conducting 'Daily Part-Time' HND programs, which are often rejected by NYSC. Oloyede advised affected students to address their grievances with the respective institutions and emphasized that admissions outside JAMB's Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) are invalid.
