President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of Sri Lanka held extensive discussions with representatives of the Government of Sri Lanka===Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) engineers' trade unions regarding the ongoing restructuring process. The primary objective is to ensure an efficient, uninterrupted, and fairly priced electricity supply to consumers while safeguarding the country's energy security and maintaining government ownership of the new companies. The President assured that all existing employee rights would be preserved and emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding during this transitional period. Discussions also covered long-standing unresolved issues within the CEB and the need for a formal mechanism for employee engagement. Both the President and trade union representatives acknowledged the necessity of this transformation and expressed willingness to cooperate for its success, which is crucial for Sri Lanka's national economy and future development plans. Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody and Deputy Minister of Energy Arkam Ilyas were also present.
