Maharashtra Enforces Girl Student Fee Waiver

The India===Maharashtra government, led by Minister Chandrakant Patil, is taking stringent measures against colleges that deny admission to girl students under the tuition fee waiver scheme, threatening to cancel their affiliation. This scheme, introduced two years ago, has already led to a 41% increase in girl student enrollment. The government is also simplifying the scholarship application process on the India===MahaDBT portal, reducing required documents from 17 to eight, and prioritizing timely disbursal of funds. Additionally, a new category for orphan students will be added to the India===MahaDBT portal to ensure they receive their benefits. The government is also considering expanding the 'earn and learn' initiative and setting up 40 facilitation centers across India===Maharashtra to assist students with applications. Pending applications for the India===Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Scholarship Scheme are also being addressed, with directives for processing within three weeks.
