Nigeria's Airports Cashless Policy Implementation

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has reiterated the Nigerian government's unwavering commitment to implementing a cashless policy across major airports, including Nigeria===Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and Nigeria===Murtala Muhammed International Airport. This follows an initial directive from President Bola Tinubu to temporarily suspend the strict application of the policy due to challenges like traffic congestion. A hybrid payment system has been introduced to ease the transition, allowing both cashless and limited cash payments. Festus Keyamo emphasized that this hybrid system is temporary, as the ultimate goal is a fully automated, electronic payment system to combat corruption and ensure revenue goes directly into the Treasury Single Account. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of Nigeria===Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, is overseeing the rollout and public awareness campaigns for the new system.
