UK Funds Lebanon Aid, Condemns Hezbollah

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced that the United Kingdom will provide over 5 million pounds ($6.62 million) in emergency funding to support the humanitarian work of the Lebanese Government. The funds will be allocated to organizations including the Lebanese Red Cross, the UN Lebanon Humanitarian Fund, and the World Food Programme. Cooper condemned Hezbollah's attacks against Israel, stating that these actions, instigated by Iran, are drawing Lebanon into an unwanted conflict. She emphasized the need for diplomatic action to prevent the conflict from widening and welcomed the Lebanese Government's decision to ban all Hezbollah's military activities. The United Kingdom will continue to support the Lebanon===Lebanese Armed Forces and the Lebanese Government in assuming full responsibility for security.
