Kenya's agricultural exports, including tea, coffee, avocado, macadamia nuts, flowers, and fresh horticultural produce, will gain duty-free access to the Chinese market starting May 1, 2026. This development stems from trade agreements secured during President William Ruto's state visit to China. Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, announced the move after a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan. The removal of tariffs is expected to significantly improve Kenya's competitiveness in the Chinese market, benefiting Kenyan farmers and agribusinesses. Kenyan exporters are urged to increase production and prioritize value-added products, with strict quality control measures to be enforced by the Kenya===Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service.
