Eskom has confirmed the implementation of electricity tariff adjustments for the 2026/27 financial year, following a decision by the South Africa===National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) on 5 March 2026. NERSA approved an average price increase of 8.76% for customers supplied directly by Eskom, effective from 1 April 2026, and 9.01% for municipal bulk customers from 1 July 2026. Eskom's Group Chief Financial Officer, Calib Cassim, acknowledged the financial pressures on consumers but emphasized the necessity of the increase to support a stable and reliable electricity supply and investment in critical infrastructure. Eskom also reported improvements in its generation performance, with the Energy Availability Factor rising to 65.85% year-to-date.
